Via Ferrata Kyrkjeveggen
Norways hardest Via Ferrata?
It is perhaps Norway’s toughest Via Ferrata climbing trail. It is in Fjæra in Åkrafjord, in fact right behind our domes. The trail goes up to Fjæratoppen, which is Fjæra’s highest peak.
It is designed for mountain climbing where possible, but steps have been put in for the most demanding sections.
The entrance is 50 meters above sea level and the top ledge is 550 meters above sea level. The trail between is roughly 900 meters long, where the last part up to Fjæratoppen is an ordinary mountain path.
Via Ferrata Kyrkeveggen is graded as class D on the international scale A to F.

Gorge climbing
En opplevelse utenom det vanlige!
Gorge climbing (Norwegian: “juving”) is an experience somewhat different from the usual!
You get a wetsuit, climbing harness, and assistance. After that follow rappelling, jumping and swimming in waterfalls and pools. The hike starts with an hour’s walk from Åkrafjord Nature in Fjæra, to the top of the gorge.
We start off easily with walking, swimming and some climbing. Eventually there will be rappelling down several waterfalls, the longest about 30 meters high.
